I am a 34 female photographer. I do all kinds of photography, but sports/action are my favorite. I have alot of people tell me that a female has no business on the sidelines or that I won’t make it.That just makes me want it more. I am right there on the sidelines with the players at the Sam Houston State College football games all the time. My goal/dream is to be a NFL photographer. I know I have a long way to go as far as getting better. What are some pointers and advice can you give me? Thanks for your time and anything will help.
Hi Dorothy, I’m a video photographer (but shoot stills as a hobby) so I probably can’t answer most of your questions, but I will tell you there are females shooting NFL games (as well as NBA, MLB and all sports). You are smart to get as much experience as you can shooting SHSU games and high school games. When it comes down to it, football is football. The NFL games, while exciting to shoot at times, can also be a pain. The league is very restrictive on what they allow you to do. They’ve really taken the fun out of it the past few years (long story). Are you aware of http://www.texasphotoforum.com ? That’s a great site with a lot of experience photographers of all levels. Also http://www.sportsshooter.com Maybe you can find more answers there. Good luck to you. Allen

Yeah, I have tryed the sportsshooter and pretty much, they have to like your work before you can become a part of that site is what they told me. I have been looking at T.P.F. too. Thanks for taking the time to get back with me on this and for the advice.
